The Veneto Region operates through the Environmental Protection, divided in thematic directions and operating units.

The Direction of Environmental Protection has the following competences: waste management, polluted soils reclaim, light and acoustic pollution, air and water protection, integrated environmental authorization, climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Since 2000 has launched a series of researches about the monitoring and the deep knowledge of the mechanisms of our own natural capital (territory, biodiversity, water, air). These researches, in addition to afford knowledge of the local environmental systems, allow understanding how the same systems would be altered due to changed climatic conditions. Some of these studies are shared with other European bodies through a project of water management together with other European partners. This allowed ripening numerous experiences in this field.

The experiences would be certainly enriched by long range collaboration like the one proposed in this project, in which the Veneto Region has the purpose of investing resources and human capital with specific skills in these themes. The experience and knowledge of the Veneto Region concerning the water management related to the climate conditions change is of certain importance at the European level.

Veneto Region Administration is member in network ERRIN (European Regions Research and Innovation Network) to concerning the environment and the energy and in LWGW Network (Local Warning Global Warming).

The organization of meeting events and the exchange of good practices will be fundamental steps for the growth of common conscience and knowledge in this field, of which the Veneto Region will be the moral promoter.
